The Pleasures of Piemonte

Tucked into the northwest corner of Italy, Piemonte is one of the most prosperous and less visited regions in Italy.

Pis del Pesio, Hiking in the Maritime Alps.

I have always loved the mountains and I remember my first train ride to Piemonte fondly as the train chugged its way through the Maritime Alps from the city of Ventimiglia to the town of Fossano in the region of Piedmont.

Too Much Pasta? Impossible

Buongiorno amici! It is time for a new recipe and a short video clip. I’ve been working a bit on my video skills, and while I’m certainly not a professional film maker yet, (ha-ha) the bar has been raised

A Spasso…A Walk Around the Vineyards of La Morra

May 29, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 4 Comments

The Rolling Hills of the Langhe. It’s hard to believe almost two weeks have gone by since my last post. Life is finally starting to feel normal again with a few added safety measures. We can actually plan activities in our region for our free time and dream about a future when things are truly … Continue reading A Spasso…A Walk Around the Vineyards of La Morra

Foraging for Flowers

May 15, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 3 Comments

What a strange spring it’s been or rather what a perfect spring it would be if it weren’t for the Covid19 virus. As far as the weather is concerned, I can honestly say it's the nicest spring we’ve had in the last five or six years. A real spring with lots of warm sunny days … Continue reading Foraging for Flowers

Easing Up…Snippets from our first days of freedom after lockdown.

May 8, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 8 Comments

It's been a busy week as we have been freed from the 200 meters around our homes. Having the freedom to take a walk has lightened my mood a bit even as I am still bracing for what might yet come. I haven’t yet ventured to the bigger cities in our area as we still … Continue reading Easing Up…Snippets from our first days of freedom after lockdown.

Fare Due Passi

May 2, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 11 Comments

Beauty at home, yes but we are used to a bigger world. The most important people in my life minus Filippo who is taking the picture enjoying homemade Tiramisu which literally "means pick me up!" Tomorrow is beginning of the path to freedom, fase due, phase two, after this long quarantine. The first thing we … Continue reading Fare Due Passi

Attitude Adjustment Part Two…Lessons I'm Learning

April 25, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 13 Comments

From the edge of town, the mountain is called Bisalta for it's two peaks. I can't wait to be able to walk here again. For now it's still off limits...10 days to go! I cried myself to sleep last night. After our 7th week of lock down, the ups and downs of the week, the … Continue reading Attitude Adjustment Part Two…Lessons I'm Learning

A Recipe for an Attitude Adjustment

April 18, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 7 Comments

Another week of quarantine has passed and when I woke up this morning I found a message or rather a picture from my brother on my phone. The picture looks across Lake Washington at the Bellevue city skyline with the Cascade Mountains in the background. It is a beautiful day and I know exactly where … Continue reading A Recipe for an Attitude Adjustment

Buona Pasqua…Happy Easter

April 11, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 1 Comment

Easter is nearly here, we have just finished our first month of national quarantine and have survived 6 weeks of homeschooling.   We are officially enjoying our Easter holiday although it doesn't really feel any different from anything else right now.  No video lessons but there is still more than enough homework due right after the … Continue reading Buona Pasqua…Happy Easter

Another Week inside…Forza!

April 4, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 9 Comments

Forza, means strength in Italian,  Forza used in our daily vocabulary means to be strong.  It's something you would say to someone going through a major illness, to someone who is grieving, going through a particularly stressful situation.  Forza Italia is what we in Italy need to hear right now but it's also the name of … Continue reading Another Week inside…Forza!

Speranza…Keeping Hope Alive

March 28, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 5 Comments

The past few weeks have strangely both flown by and dragged by.  While things were gradually shutting down after finishing my last tour at the end of February, I still couldn't imagine the storm that was brewing.  I am not sure I want to imagine what is yet to come.  There has been an amazing … Continue reading Speranza…Keeping Hope Alive

Video Blog Experiment Take 1

March 18, 2020September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 16 Comments

Buongiorno a tutti, good day to all.  Still stuck in the house and losing track of the days one can only clean so much so today I decided to try an experiment and you can tell me what you think.  The videos appear sideways here for som reason but rift themselves for viewing.
