The Pleasures of Piemonte

Tucked into the northwest corner of Italy, Piemonte is one of the most prosperous and less visited regions in Italy.

Pis del Pesio, Hiking in the Maritime Alps.

I have always loved the mountains and I remember my first train ride to Piemonte fondly as the train chugged its way through the Maritime Alps from the city of Ventimiglia to the town of Fossano in the region of Piedmont.

Too Much Pasta? Impossible

Buongiorno amici! It is time for a new recipe and a short video clip. I’ve been working a bit on my video skills, and while I’m certainly not a professional film maker yet, (ha-ha) the bar has been raised

Whimsy in the woods and clearing away the blues

January 22, 2022January 22, 2022 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 2 Comments

We are on the right path COVID-19 is still wreaking havoc all over the world. My oldest son, Filippo, was supposed to arrive from LA today, but when he went to take his Covid test to fly, he came up positive. I am so disappointed and understand that is the risk of traveling these days, … Continue reading Whimsy in the woods and clearing away the blues

Thanksgiving Reflections

December 8, 2020December 9, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 1 Comment

Thanksgiving 2019 Thanksgiving came to our house a bit late this year.  It’s not something we celebrate in Italy but being American it is a holiday I traditionally love and usually manage to spend with my expat friends right after finishing what is always the last tour of my season, often a week in Rome.  … Continue reading Thanksgiving Reflections

Pizza Pizza!

March 22, 2018September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 5 Comments

Time seems to be going by so quickly these days. I feel like I wake up, crawl out of bed, and then it's time to call it a day and crawl back in again. It's a good thing I like my bed! My baby, Emanuele, has been asking me for ages to make pizza, and … Continue reading Pizza Pizza!

After a month of nonstop tours, I am at home again.  I have one week and one precious weekend to love up my family and try to get the house in order.  Loving up my family is at the top of that list as my house is passable. Mauro does a good job of getting … Continue reading Big Benches

The Perfect Panino

September 29, 2016September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / Leave a comment

Whenever I happen to be in the Umbrian town of Assisi on a glorious sunny day such as this I treat myself to one of the best panini in town. Made with love by Fabrizio at La Bottega Dei Sapori. He always uses fresh local ingredients and I know I can't go wrong.  The hard … Continue reading The Perfect Panino

Mozzerella di Bufala

September 17, 2016September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 1 Comment

I once made the mistake of saying Mozzerella di bufalo rather than bufala and was teased that male water buffaloes don't make milk!  The teasing was playful and part of the language learning curve but I haven't made that mistake again. Today was all about mozzarella di bufala, tangy and moist it almost squeaks between your … Continue reading Mozzerella di Bufala

Andiamo…Let’s go…

August 24, 2016September 12, 2020 / Lisa's Dolce Italia / 3 Comments

My friend Sarah Murdoch has been nagging me for a very long time to start this blog and has set it up so I have no reason not to. I have lived in Italy for a long time and am looking forward to sharing stories and recipes here. Today I am celebrating the simple things in … Continue reading Andiamo…Let’s go…
